Hiroshima University Holds the Award Ceremony for the 2nd Japanese Essay Contest for Vietnamese Students

On October 18, 2025, Hiroshima University held the award ceremony for the 2nd Hiroshima University Japanese Essay Contest for Vietnamese Students at the Vietnam Japan Human Resources Cooperation Center (VJCC) in Hanoi, Vietnam.

This contest, launched in 2024, is a new initiative by Hiroshima University to promote and support Japanese language education overseas. It targets Vietnamese students learning Japanese and aims to encourage their study of the language and deepen their understanding of Japanese culture.

Following last year’s first contest, the award ceremony was held with the attendance of H.E. Mr. Naoki Ito, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. The ceremony was also joined by representatives from Hiroshima University, the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam, and other distinguished guests.

 

Opening Remarks by Executive Vice President Kaneko

Address by Ambassador Ito

In his opening remarks, Executive Vice President Kaneko emphasized that Hanoi, Vietnam, is an important hub in Hiroshima University’s international strategy. He also expressed his hope that the Japanese language, which is widely used both domestically and internationally, will serve as a valuable communication tool for Vietnamese learners in the future.
In his address, Ambassador Ito praised the participants, saying, “It is wonderful that you have developed an interest in Japan and have worked hard to improve your Japanese language skills. I hope you will continue to study the language and gain a deeper understanding of Japanese society.”
