Hiroshima University professor named among Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers 2025

Hiroshima University Professor Ayyoob Sharifi of The IDEC Institute’s Center for Peaceful and Sustainable Futures (CEPEAS) has been selected as one of Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers 2025.

Clarivate identifies Highly Cited Researchers each year based on data from the Web of Science Core Collection.

Researchers are selected for having authored a minimum number of papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for their field and publication year over the past eleven years, taking into account both quantitative and qualitative analyses as well as expert judgment.

According to Clarivate, this small fraction of the global researcher population contributes disproportionately to extending the frontiers of knowledge and contributing to innovations that make the world healthier, more sustainable and which drive societal impact.

In the 2025 edition, 6,868 researchers worldwide were recognized, including 88 researchers primarily affiliated with Japanese institutions.

The list was announced by Clarivate on November 12, 2025.
