A Delegation from Changchun University, China, Visits HU

On April 25, 2025, a delegation led by Vice President Zhang Hongjie of Changchun University, China, paid a courtesy visit to Hiroshima University’s Higashi-Hiroshima Campus and held discussion with HU President Mitsuo Ochi. The meeting was also attended by Executive Vice President Shinji Kaneko (Global Initiatives).
During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on various topics such as the promotion of Hiroshima University 3+1 Program, a program to accept international students at HU, and the expansion of cooperation and collaboration on special needs education in the future.

HU and Changchun University signed an inter-university international exchange agreement in 2017, and since then have deepened exchanges, mainly focusing on collaboration in special needs education. Also, in 2019, HU established its 21st overseas base at Changchun University. During the previous courtesy visit in May 2024, there was a lively exchange of views on the results of past exchanges between the two universities and future possibilities.

HU has concluded 133 inter-university international exchange agreements with 121 institutions and 84 inter-faculty international exchange agreements with 80 institutions in China. Currently, 1,283 students from China are studying at HU, including 6 students from Changchun University. With this visit, HU will promote exchange with Changchun University as well as other universities and research institutions in China.
