On April 29, the 60th Oda Mikio Memorial Track & Field Meet was held at Hiroshima Regional Park Athletic Stadium (Hot Staff Field Hiroshima) in Hiroshima City. In the men’s 100-meter race, Hiroshima University Track and Field Club member Shoma Yamamoto, a second-year master’s student in the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering, won the event with a time of 10.37 seconds.

Yamamoto also placed third in the men’s 100-meter dash at the 80th Yoshioka Memorial Izumo Meet, held from April 11–12. Despite strong competition, he finished as the top Japanese competitor and continues to demonstrate strong form this season.

“I’m so happy to have won on this stage in my hometown, a stage I’ve long admired. While I feel I’ve become stronger in competition, there are still areas I need to improve in my running. I’ll continue working hard to address them and strive to keep winning,” said Yamamoto.

Thank you for your continued support of the Hiroshima University Track and Field Club!
