On August 6, 2026, a delegation from the American University of Iraq, Baghdad, led by President Bradley J. Cook, visited the Higashi-Senda Campus of Hiroshima University (HU), where a signing ceremony was held for a university-level international exchange agreement between the two universities.

The ceremony was also attended by other members of the delegation, including Mr. Olin Wethington, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Earlier that day, the delegation attended the Peace Memorial Ceremony held in Hiroshima City. Following the agreement signing ceremony, they also participated in the 6th University Presidents for Peace Conference, hosted by HU at the Higashi-Senda Campus, where participants engaged in lively discussions on topics such as the role of universities in promoting peace and sustainability.

The newly concluded agreement is expected to further promote student and academic exchanges between the two universities.
