Staff from National Central University, Taiwan, and HU Conduct a Workshop and Propose Action Plans for Future Large-Scale Exchanges Between the Two Universities

On November 30, 2023, Vice President Hsieh-Lung Hsu and 11 staff members from National Central University (NCU), Taiwan, visited Hiroshima University (HU) and conducted a workshop to develop action plans to promote student exchange for 100 students and international joint research, as well as to deepen mutual staff exchange with HU. From HU, 19 staff members consisting of 10 from the International Office, 3 from the Financial and General Affairs Office, 2 from the Support Office for the fields of Engineering, 2 from the Education Office, and 2 from the Office of Research and Academia-Government-Community Collaboration, participated in the workshop.

While both universities are already promoting exchanges in the field of engineering, the goal of the universities is to continue to promote exchanges not only in the field of engineering, but also across the entire university and in cross-cutting areas. Staff members from both universities, who were selected from different departments, were divided into four groups (International Relations, Research Support, Curriculum, and Financial, General, and University Affairs) to discuss and propose action plans for the future.

HU Executive Vice President for Global Initiatives Shinji Kaneko and NCU Vice President Hsieh-Lung Hsu also participated in the workshop and had a lively exchange of views together with the participants on the action plans proposed by each group. It is hoped that this workshop will be an opportunity to promote exchange between the two universities.

This workshop was realized after NCU President Jing-Yang Jou paid a courtesy visit to HU on September 25 this year and exchanged views on the continuation and expansion of cooperative relations, including student exchange between the two universities, and the holding of meetings to exchange opinions among staff members.
