On April 17, 2025, a delegation led by Dr. Yajulu Medury, Vice Chancellor of Mahindra University, India, paid a courtesy visit to Hiroshima University's Higashi-Hiroshima Campus and held discussions with HU President Mitsuo Ochi. The meeting was also attended by Executive Vice President Shinji Kaneko (Global Initiatives), Vice President Kazuhiko Koike (International Exchange/Japanese Language Education), and Specially Appointed Research Manager Sushil Raut from the IDEC Institute. During the meeting, Mahindra University was introduced, and opinions were exchanged on the promotion of Hiroshima University’s 3+1 Program, a program for accepting international students at HU, and the possibility of expanding exchange and collaboration between the two universities in the future.
The visit also included a tour of the facilities of some of HU's programs, including Biotechnology; Electrical, Systems, and Control Engineering; Civil and Environmental Engineering; and Mechanical Engineering, as well as the signing of an international exchange agreement and addendum on academic and educational exchange between the two universities through the Hiroshima University 3+1 Program. In his greeting, President Ochi expressed his expectations for the future, saying, “It is a great honor for our university to be able to conclude an academic and educational exchange agreement with Mahindra University today. I hope that the expansion of academic and personal exchange between the two universities will foster long-lasting friendly relations between the two countries.”
Mahindra University is a private university founded in 2020 by the Mahindra Group, a leading Indian conglomerate. It is home to exceptional schools of Engineering, Management, Law, Education, Life Sciences, Media, and Hotel Management that offer a world-class education.
