HU student wins grand prize in HiBiS Internet Business Forum 2021

A second-year student at Hiroshima University's School of Science won the grand prize (Director-General's Prize of the Chugoku Bureau of Telecommunications) and the ICT Business Research Campus Prize in the student division of the 25th HiBiS Internet Business Forum 2021.

Kaisei Yonekura, a sophomore from the Department of Chemistry, bested other participants at the event held on November 25, 2021 by HiBiS, a special project committee of the Hiroshima Information Industry Association.

Out of the 42 submissions, only selected participants in the corporate and student sections who submitted ICT-based business cases deemed excellent made presentations, which were then judged.

"SAKUSAPO - A Partner for Those Who Want to Succeed," the grand prize-winning application developed by Yonekura, is for those who want to succeed in business and idea contests. Since the path to success is abstract, the application uses "objective numerical evaluations" and "uniquely developed formulas" to help and support people make steady progress toward success. He was also qualified to take part in the Japan Business Design National Discovery & Presentation (Telecom Service Association) — to be held in Tokyo on March 17 and 18, 2022.

Yonekura, who also serves as the student representative of the "1st Penguin Club," the university's entrepreneurship club, said, "SAKUSAPO was developed based on my past experiences of failure as one of the ways to achieve success systematically. By winning this award, I feel that the most significant achievement is that I have come to understand that my ideas can be objectively evaluated. I will continue to devote myself and work hard."
