The British higher education magazine, Times Higher Education (THE), released its Japan University Rankings 2023 last March 24. Hiroshima University (HU) was ranked 11th overall and 10th among national universities.

HU also topped the list of universities in the Chugoku and Shikoku regions for the seventh straight year since THE started ranking Japanese universities in 2017.

The Japan University Rankings are calculated based on four broad pillars (resources, engagement, outcomes, and environment) focused on student growth and learning. The 2023 rankings include 271 institutions.
