Hiroshima University Becomes the First University in the World to Sign an International Exchange Agreement with the African Union

On November 25, 2024, Hiroshima University became the first Japanese university to sign an international exchange agreement with the Pan-African University, African Union. The signing ceremony took place at Hiroshima University’s Higashi-Senda Campus during the "Hiroshima University Africa Day: University Presidents for Peace Conference - Africa Chapter" event, attended by Professor Jean Koulidiati, President of the Pan-African University, along with representatives from four of its campuses.

The Pan-African University, established in 2011 by the African Union, is a postgraduate institution dedicated to enhancing the quality of higher education across the African continent and promoting advancements in science and technology. It operates five main campuses across Africa, each focusing on specific academic themes and disciplines.

Through this agreement, Hiroshima University will offer African students opportunities to attend courses and receive academic guidance, including thesis supervision, for a defined period. This partnership serves as a stepping stone for deepening collaborations not only with the African Union but also with other nations and universities across Africa.
