From October 23 to 25, 2024, the "2024 INEI Annual Conference" was held at Hiroshima University's Higashi-Senda Campus and Higashi-Hiroshima Campus.

INEI hosts the Deans' Meeting at a different host university each year. Following Hiroshima University's participation in 2018 (Beijing Normal University), 2019 (University of Toronto), 2020-2021 (held online due to the pandemic), 2022 (Nanyang Technological University), and 2023 (Seoul National University), this year Hiroshima University participated as the host university.

Hiroshima University organized the INEI Executive Committee, led by Dean Yasushi Maruyama of the School of Education, and welcomed professors from member universities to Hiroshima with the cooperation of six staff members from the Education General Support Office. Additionally, over 30 students and graduate students from Hiroshima University participated as volunteers or part-time staff, supporting the INEI Annual Conference and interacting with world-class researchers.

The INEI Annual Meeting began with a speech by Dean Maruyama, reflecting on INEI's past achievements and hopes for further strengthening exchanges among member universities, student exchanges, and the advancement of educational research and teacher training. In the session "A History of the INEI," the achievements of each INEI member university were reported. In the following sessions, participants listened to a special lecture on the atomic bomb damage in Hiroshima and then visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. On the evening of the first day, a grand reception was held with the support of subsidies, in cooperation with Yokogawa Shopping Street and Hiroshima Electric Railway. This was a part of a project selected by the Japan Tourism Agency to enhance the attractiveness of Hiroshima as a venue for international conferences, allowing participants to fully enjoy Hiroshima's culture.

On day two, the event was held at the Higashihiroshima Campus, beginning with a keynote speech by Associate Professor Kim Jongsung (Hiroshima University) on teacher education for peace, followed by lively discussions. Subsequent sessions included poster presentations and open discussions where INEI member universities introduced their current initiatives, as well as a collaboration project with HiGA (Hiroshima Global Academy).

Furthermore, the INEI Human Library was held, where Hiroshima University students and graduate students, as well as middle and high school students from Hiroshima Prefectural Hiroshima Global Academy and AICJ High School, interviewed deans and vice-deans of each university, learning about their initiatives and the ideas behind them. On the third day, discussions on the future development of INEI took place at the Higashi-Senda Campus. Over the course of the three days, there were many research exchanges and discussions, making the annual meeting increasingly active in promoting international collaborative research and the exchange of students and graduate students. Next year's annual meeting will be hosted by the University of São Paulo in Brazil.
