HUSA Program International Students & IGS Students Participated in the Online International Exchange of Nisshokan High School’s “Omotenashi Plan”

On November 20, 2020, students in the Hiroshima University Study Abroad Program (HUSA) and the Department of Integrated Global Studies (IGS), taking “Glocal Internship” and “Japanese Society and Gender Issues” (offered by Dr. Naomi Tsunematsu, Morito Institute of Global Higher Education), participated in the Online International Exchange of “Kisa Omotenashi Plan,” held by Nisshokan High School. The 20 participant students are from the USA, Romania, France, Germany, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, and Japan. This became the 7th time to hold the Omotenashi International Exchange.

280 people, including 200 students from Nisshokan high school, together with elementary school students in Kisa and host families welcomed Hiroshima University students. Students were so moved with beautiful performance of shodo, kendo, and taiko and warm welcome. Students taking the “Glocal Internship” performed Japanese skit and also presented Japanese speech. With Dr. Tsunematsu presiding in English and Japanese, students and local people enjoyed new intercultural interactions. In the greeting speech, Mr. Vlad Rosu from Romania expressed his heart-felt appreciation to the heart-warming and surprising welcome.
