On May 11th 2023, President Amr Adly of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST), one of our inter-university international exchange agreement partners, paid a courtesy visit to the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus of Hiroshima University. The meeting was also attended by Executive Vice President in charge of Global Initiatives, Shinji Kaneko.

During the visit, the delegation engaged in discussion with HU President Mitsuo Ochi and toured the Research Institute for Nanodevices and the Hiroshima University Digital Monozukuri (Manufacturing) Education and Research Center, both of which are HU's industry-academia collaboration facilities.

The two universities signed an inter-university international exchange agreement in 2016; in 2019, President Ochi became a member of the Board of Trustees of E-JUST; in 2020, four of our faculty members gave online lectures for E-JUST students; and in March 2023, ten of our students visited E-JUST under our introductory short-term overseas study program, the START Program (Zambia and Egypt), deepening exchanges.

HU has concluded 9 inter-university international exchange agreements with 8 Egyptian universities, and 9 students from Egypt are currently studying at HU.
It is hoped that this visit will be an opportunity to promote exchange with E-JUST and other Egyptian universities and research institutions.
