On June 4, 2024, a delegation led by Mr. Ma Jianlong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages, Hebei University of Technology (HEBUT), China, visited the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus of Hiroshima University (HU) and engaged in a meeting with Executive Vice President (Global Initiatives) Kaneko. The meeting was also attended by Vice President (Fields of Humanities and Social Sciences) Matsumi and Professor Ajima (Dean, School of Letters).
During this visit, the participants exchanged views on Japanese literature, culture, and Japanese language education, teacher training programs, and possible areas of joint research between the two universities.

HEBUT was established in 1903 and was originally known as Beiyang Technical School. It is a key university designated as part of “Project 211” jointly operated by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and Tianjin City. As a science and technology university that cultivates industrial and technical personnel in Hebei Province, HEBUT is highly regarded in the fields of materials physics, materials chemistry, and electrical engineering, and is also equipped with cultural departments such as MBA and foreign language studies.

HU has concluded 131 inter-university international exchange agreements with 117 institutions and 84 inter-faculty international exchange agreements with 80 institutions in China. Currently, 1,322 students from China are studying at HU. With this visit, HU will promote exchange with HEBUT as well as other universities and research institutions in China.
