Joint Press Conference Held by HU and UNITAR

  On October 23, a joint press conference was held by HU and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) at HU's Kasumi Campus.
The press conference was held to discuss the joint implementation of the “Global Human Resource Development for Peacebuilding and Development” project, which HU and UNITAR have been commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to undertake in fiscal 2024.

  First, President Ochi explained that “HU has been conducting A Special Education Program for Young Professionals Preparing for Careers in International Organizations at the  Graduate School of Innovation and Practice for Smart Society  (former Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation), and has held an annual seminar for international civil servants with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Recruitment Center for International Organizations over the past 10 years. The university's achievements in fostering global human resources have been highly evaluated, and we have been selected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for this year's program.
  Next, Executive Vice Presidents Kaneko gave an overview of the project, explaining that “training and support such as primary course (beginner level), mid-career course (middle level), JPO (Junior Professional Officer) pre-deployment training, and career building services will be provided jointly with UNITAR.

  Finally, Head of the Hiroshima Office of UNITAR Mikami, gave a speech on “the significance of this training program being conducted by UNITAR and the University, and the significance of conducting it in the A-bombed city of Hiroshima.
  A large number of media organizations attended the meeting and reported on the training through articles and news reports.
