International Exchange Bus Trip 2005

Students participating in various activities on the trip.

On Saturday, November 19th, international students and researchers from abroad at Hiroshima University, together with faculty and staff, participated in the International Exchange Bus Trip. The trip took participants to the northern part of Hiroshima to visit Miyoshi Fudoki Park and Hirata Farms.

The students, researchers, faculty, staff, as well as their respective families, brought the participant total to 350 people. In order to accommodate such a large number of people, ten buses were arranged to bring the participants to the various sites.

They first visited Miyoshi Fudoki Park and experienced what it was like to live in primitive and ancient times through participating in a traditional fire-starting, visiting a kofun, or ancient tomb, going on a cultural tour, and visiting a museum. After the park, the group visited Hirata Farms' Apple Orchard where, smiling, they picked and ate as many apples as they could, and enjoyed lunch in the wide open space of the farm.

In the midst of a relaxed atmosphere, the students and researchers could feel the depths of Hiroshima's fall season, and because of this, the whole journey became a meaningful experience for all.
