(2020.3.24) Notice regarding the 2020 Spring Semester Entrance Ceremony

In light of the current situation of the novel coronavirus outbreak in Japan, HU has carefully examined the feasibility of the 2020 Spring Semester Entrance Ceremony, scheduled for April 3, 2020, and the following decision has been made: the venue for the ceremony has been changed from the Higashi-Hiroshima Sports Park Gymnasium Hall to the Satake Memorial Hall on Higashi-Hiroshima Campus. Please note that the total number of attendees, as well as the duration of the ceremony, have also been reduced as notified below.

We quite understand that this is a once-in-a-lifetime event to all the people concerned. However, to prevent further spread of the virus infection, we regret to inform you that new students and family members/mentors are not allowed to attend the ceremony.

Pre-recorded video clips of the ceremony will become available from YouTube at 13:00 on the above date.

To Freshmen/ New Students

  • We regret to inform you that new students are not allowed to enter the ceremony venue, i.e. Satake Memorial Hall, on April 3; however, signboard/banners for commemorative photos will be installed outside the venue and the different Schools/Graduate Schools.
  • School Guidance/Counselling Sessions are to be arranged by each School. During each session, you will first watch the video clip of the entrance ceremony as well as listen to the cheering messages from celebrities. Second, you will also be shown an orientation video covering students’ campus life. Finally, the Student Guidance/Counselling Sessions will follow.   • On the day of the Student Guidance/Counselling Sessions, you are kindly advised to take all the measures to prevent the potential spread of the new coronavirus infection (e.g. always wearing a mask). If you have a fever or any other cold symptoms, please refrain from coming to the campus.
  • Please note that no indoor group photos are allowed (to avoid close contact with each other).
  • For more details, please make sure to check the relevant information from the relevant Support Office.

To the Family Members/Mentors of the New Students

  • We regret to inform you that no family members of the new students are allowed to enter the ceremony venue, i.e. Satake Memorial Hall on April 3, or to attend any of the School Guidance & Counselling Sessions.
  • Please note that each RoundTable Meeting for the parents originally scheduled after the entrance ceremony on April 3, has been cancelled.

To the Current HU Students

  • We regret to inform you that no students are allowed to enter the ceremony venue, i.e. Satake Memorial Hall, on April 3, or to attend any of the School Guidance & Counselling Sessions.

Please note that the Ceremony/Guidance Sessions may be subject to cancellation should there be a drastic change in the circumstances regarding the spread of the coronavirus infections from this point of time onwards. If that were to happen, we would appreciate your cooperation and understanding on this matter.
