Waterfowl came flying to Yamanaka Pond on Higashi-Hiroshima Campus

As it has started to feel more like autumn, waterfowl have flown into the Yamanaka Pond on the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus again this year. The sight of them swimming peacefully on the surface of the water, which reflects the beautiful autumn foliage, is a delight to the eye.

As of November 5, several dozens of birds, including coots and ducks have been spotted in the area. Some were seen as early as late October. Each autumn, in addition to the resident birds, ducks migrate from the continent to the Yamanaka Pond, the Budou Pond, and the Kadowaki Regulation Pond on campus. Also, when you walk through the campus woods, you may hear the singing of thrushes and Daurian redstarts.
