On Sept.22 (Thu), the Hiroshima University Fair (HU-Fair) was held on the Institut Teknologi Bandung campus. The event was highly successful, attracting more than 800 students and teachers, mainly from Institut Teknologi Bandung.



The HU-Fair was part of the activities of the “Hiroshima University Bandung Center”, which was established last year on the ITB campus. Its purposes are (1): Introducing HU education and research activities , (2):Providing information for overseas study at Hiroshima University or other places in Japan and (3): Introducing cooperative firms.



At the opening ceremony, Dr. Heramawan K.Dipojono from the ITB Industry and Technology Department, Executive and Vice President Yasuo Yamane, ITB President Akhmaloka and First Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia Hiroaki Motomura gave speeches followed by a group of Indonesian students who performed Bon dances.



Afterwards, there was a seminar held on cutting-edge joint-research at both universities that introduced the efforts of joint and exchange research toward technological transfer, environment and nanotechnology .and communication between each university’s students. At the following orientation session on overseas study in Japan, Mr. Motomura, First Secretary of the Japanese Embassy, and the staff of the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) gave information about studying in Japan and scholarships etc. Then, there were explanations on how to become an international student of Hiroshima University and graduates told about their experiences at HU.



In the afternoon, the enterprises which supported the establishment of the Bandung Center had some time for the corporate introduction and at the same time, there were booths with consulting corners for questions about overseas study and employment, operated by the Japanese Embassy, JASSO, cooperative enterprises and Hiroshima University.



By holding this fair, further academic and student exchanges between our university, Institut Teknologi Bandung and the Republic of Indonesia are expected.

After the fair, the Inaugural Meeting for the Hiroshima University Bandung Alumni Association was held, mainly organized by the graduates of HU in Bandung.
