On May 24, 2012, HU and KNUE held a joint seminar at the Korea National University of Education.

Last November, Hiroshima University established the Hiroshima University Korea Center on the campus of the Korea National University of Education in order to propel educational and academic exchange. This seminar was part of these activities.

About 100 students attended the seminar. At the beginning of the seminar, the welcome address was delivered by the President of KNUE, Joo sung Kim, followed by Executive Assistant to the President of HU Sato who explained the history and purpose of the seminar. Afterward, the HU Faculty of Education was introduced and a brief overview of both universities’ exchange activities was presented.

At the subsequent academic seminar lecturers from both universities talked about the newest research trends and topics in the fields of Science, Mathematics and Special Support Education. From HU, Professor Koyama, Professor Isozaki and Professor Ochiai from the Graduate School of Education presented a report as the participants listened intently.

In closing, Executive and Vice President of HU Uye expressed his gratitude to the teaching staff and students of KNUE and the seminar was brought to a successful end.

In Korea, KNUE is playing a central role in the field of education. We hope that in the future, especially in the areas of pedagogics and teacher training, academic exchange and student exchange with HU will become more active than ever.
