The 1st Seminar on Transportation and Traffic Planning: For Mitigation of Traffic Congestion was held



The 1st Seminar on Transportation and Traffic Planning: For Mitigation of Traffic Congestion was held in collaboration with Fukken Co., Ltd., Yangon Technological University, and Myanmar Engineering Society (MES), at the Function Hall of the Myanmar Engineering Society on August 20, 2016. Mr. H. Oda, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Fukken Co., Ltd., and Prof. T. Takata, Executive Vice President of Hiroshima University, attended the seminar along with other participants. The number of participants reached around 200, which was twice as many as the seating capacity.

Professor Akimasa Fujiwara of the Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation gave a talk titled “Comprehensive Urban Transport Planning Alleviating Traffic Congestion" at the seminar. Moreover, researchers and students from Fukken, MES, Yangon Technological University, and Hiroshima University presented their research results followed by a panel discussion session. The discussion went lively, making the seminar site filled with excitement. Local TV reporters came to cover the seminar, which showed the level of local media attention. The seminar organizers promised to host recurrent seminar series and successfully closed the seminar.
