We had a lecture by Universities UK President Dame Julia Goodfellow

Hiroshima University held a lecture by Dame Julia Goodfellow, President of the Universities UK, titled “Brexit and its Impact on UK Universities” on October 27th, and many faculty and staff members attended the lecture.

In the lecture, Dame Goodfellow pointed out that, “The biggest problem that UK’s universities will face from UK’s leave from the EU is the uncertainty that the leave will create” and also said that “It’s important to continue moving forward with our international partners including Japan to the problems or changes we’ll be facing in the future.”

President Dame Goodfellow serves as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kent, that has concluded an International Exchange Agreement with Hiroshima University the same day before the lecture. As a new partner, we are planning to promote active academic and student exchanges between the two universities as well as between Japan and England.
