Outline:



Since August 2003, the 21st Century Center of Excellence Program "COE for Social Capacity Development for Environmental Management and International Cooperation" Hiroshima University (COE) has been active in the field of environmental cooperation and capacity development (CD) in developing countries with the goal of pioneering new territory and international cooperation education. COE has also cooperated with Explorers of International Cooperation Studies to Cross Borders (i-ECBO), adopted in October 2005.



The main objective in this symposium is to discuss the possibility of innovation for Japanese development aid policies based on CD and capacity assessment (CA), which have been developed by COE with scholars and experts from related institutes in developed and developing countries. Our aim is to practically use this approach to improve Japanese development aid policies.
