“Study Abroad Week 2017” - One Week to Feel the Fascination of Studying Abroad

Over a period of six days from May 8th (Mon) to 12th (Fri), along with the 19th (Fri), “Study Abroad Week 2017” (Japanese page) was held at Hiroshima University. This event’s aims are to introduce students to various exchange programs and provide the opportunity for them to talk about abroad study, thus deepening interest in studying and/or researching overseas. First held in 2011, in this year’s seventh Study Abroad Week over 770 students and faculty members participated.

Study Abroad Advisors (Japanese page) (students with experience of studying abroad) acting as consultants at the office of HU International Exchange Group, voluntarily organized projects such as the “Study Abroad Explanation Meeting” which provided information relating to overseas study or “Study Abroad Café” where fellow students could discuss studying overseas. These projects aroused much interest and curiosity in many visitors.

Other events included the “Germany study abroad information meeting” co-organized with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and the “Study Abroad x Career” event held with the cooperation of the “Tobitate! Ryugaku JAPAN Program” (supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) and the Recruit Career Co., Ltd. Through the inclusion of these new projects, participating students were provided with the opportunity to think about studying abroad from a variety of viewpoints.

Hiroshima University, through the continuing planning and implementation of such study abroad and language exam information events, aims to continue in supporting sending students overseas.
