Please be prepared for heavy rainfall by Typhoon No. 12.

Although the recovery operation and restoration are still underway after the torrential rain hit western Japan this month, Typhoon No. 12 is expected to bring heavy rainfall on July 29th Sunday. It may cause secondary disasters of landslides and river flooding in certain areas. The following areas are especially with high risks of landslides and river flooding. Please take appropriate measures to ensure the safety and make early evacuation if you feel any danger.

Sediment-related disaster alert areas and sediment-related disaster danger points are particularly dangerous. The areas still with rocks, dirt and sand, driftwood that have flowed out by torrential rains in early July, the surrounding check dams and soil saving dams that are filled with sand or corrupted are also dangerous. Such areas include “Hiroshima-shi Asakita-ku, Kuchitaminami-chiku”, “Aki-ku Yano Higashi-chiku”, “Kaita-cho”, “Sakamachi Koyaura-chiku” and “Kure-shi Yasuura-cho”.

Even with little rain, it is possible that the water level of small and medium rivers may sharply rise or water may easily overflow from a waterway where dirt and sand have accumulated. In addition, many embankments were damaged by the heavy rain in early July. There are some rivers whose damaged river channels have not been restored in time for this typhoon. In a residential area located in the mountainside or hillside of the mountain, avalanche of sand and stones may flow into the roads which connect between the residential area and the surrounding major roads. Please pay attention to the safety of the way you take while evacuating.

The ground is loose even in the areas that are not mentioned above. It is necessary to prepare for and respond carefully to even light rain more than usual. Please refrain from going out unnecessarily.
