On December 12, 53 new international exchange students from North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia, participating in the Hiroshima University Study Abroad Program (HUSA) 2018-2019 conducted a presentation of their Practical Research Group Project titled the “Glocal Leadership Project : Cooperation of University & Local Society ~Self-Support System: Adjustment and Readjustment~”. This became the 1st Midyear presentation seminar for the Projects.

Eight groups of international exchange students in the HUSA Program 2018-2019 (fifty-three students from 41 universities in 17 countries) reported the progress of their practical group projects in the seminar chaired by the associate professor Naomi Tsunematsu of Morito Institute of Global Higher Education. Students have been undertaking research on various universities’ support system to help students’ adjustment and readjustment since last October.

The seminar was held as open seminar and students received valuable feedback from people from professors, graduate students, international students and Japanese students of Hiroshima University, and municipal government officials. Students gained insights into how they could cooperate with local people.

HUSA students taking the “Globalization Support Internship” conducted a presentation, taking the lead, on the progress of their international exchange project in Kurahashi Festival coming up in February 2019. This year’s seminar has observed active participation of students on campus. We are looking forward to seeing how the projects will progress.
