Hiroshima University Faculty of Dentistry signed the MOU with University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine,U.S.A



Hiroshima University Faculty of Dentistry signed the Memorandum of Understanding with University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine (U Penn Dental Medicine)



On January 27, 2015, the MOU signing ceremony was held at U Penn Dental Medicine between Hiroshima University (HU) Faculty of Dentistry and U Penn Dental Medicine. Dean of Penn Dental Medicine Prof. Denis Kinane and Dean of HU Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Motoyuki Sugai signed the Memorandum. Though Penn Dental School has concluded approximately 50 MOUs with overseas dental schools, it was announced that this was the first time U Penn Dental Medicine hosted an MOU signing ceremony at the school. The Delegation from HU Faculty of Dentistry; Dean Prof. Motoyuki Sugai, Executive and Vice President Prof. Tetsuji Okamoto and Prof. Hideki Shiba, attended the signing ceremony and enhanced mutual understanding by exchanging opinions with representatives from Penn Dental Medicine including Dean Prof. Denis Kinane and Prof. Syngcuk Kim, Associate Dean for Global Affairs and Continuing Education on future international activities such as student and staff mobility and collaborative research. At the lunch seminar held right after the ceremony, Executive/Vice President Prof. Okamoto presented an introductory explanation of academic and research activities of Hiroshima University, especially, “Program for Leading Graduate Schools”. And Dean Prof. Motoyuki Sugai provided a lecture on the faculty’s strategies for education, research and social contributions.



U Penn has been named one of the world top level universities, ranking 13th in the world by the QS World University Rankings (2014). HU Faculty of Dentistry has conducted many academic and research relations with U Penn Dental School so far; giving scientific lectures at U Penn, delegating our young investigators using the Brain-Circulation Program, and mutual visits of academic staff, inviting U Penn academic staff to provide special lectures to HU dental students. The agreement will further facilitate reciprocal international ties including exchanges of students and academic staff between the two institutions.
