Hiroshima University Study Abroad Program (HUSA 2019-2020) held the 1st Project Planning Presentation Seminar on the “Glocal Leadership Project: Cooperation of University & Local Society ~Self-Support System: Discover Hiroshima~”

On December 10, 52 new international exchange students from North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia, participating in the Hiroshima University Study Abroad Program (HUSA) 2019-2020 conducted a presentation of their Practical Research Group Project titled the “Glocal Leadership Project : Cooperation of University & Local Society ~Self-Support System: Discover Hiroshima~”. This became the 1st Midyear presentation seminar for the Projects.

Nine groups of international exchange students in the HUSA Program 2019-2020 (fifty-two students from 35 universities in 13 countries) reported the progress of their practical group projects in the seminar chaired by the associate professor Naomi Tsunematsu of Morito Institute of Global Higher Education. Students have been undertaking research on discovering Hiroshima from international students’ new perspectives since last October.

The seminar was held as open seminar and students received valuable feedback from people from professors, graduate students, international students and Japanese students of Hiroshima University, and municipal government officials. Students gained insights into how they could cooperate with local people.

HUSA students taking the “Globalization Support Internship” conducted a presentation, taking the lead, on the progress of their international exchange project in Kurahashi Festival coming up in February 2020. This year’s seminar has observed active participation of students on campus. We are looking forward to seeing how the projects will progress.
