Orientation for Hiroshima University Study Abroad (HUSA) Program Students was held

Group work on “Japanese society relationships and manners” by HUSA students

37 international Hiroshima University Study Abroad (HUSA) program students arrived to Hiroshima University (19 different countries from Asia, North America, Europe, and Oceania). The orientation was held for two days, September 25 and 28 at the Hiroshima University Student Plaza.

Professor Taiji Hotta (International Vice Executive), Associate Professor Naomi Tsunematsu (International Center, International Education division) and International Exchange Group staff watched over the HUSA students listening intently to the orientation. There were English and Japanese explanations about Hiroshima University campus life, student dormitory life, practice projects, Japanese customs, and behavioral patterns.

This year, a group work on Japanese culture was planned so international students from various parts of the world can get to know one another and learn together without cultural barriers. 5-6 students from different countries formed groups and discussed topics such as “inside” and “outside” of local communities and vertical relationships. Each group wrote down their thoughts on a poster paper and the presentation was very fascinating.

After the orientation on the second day, a welcome party was held. Students from Hiroshima University were excited to deepen their friendships with the international students.
