Hiroshima University HUSA Group Project Report Presentation was held

International exchange students participating in the HUSA (Hiroshima University Study Abroad) Program presented their progress on their Practical Group Research Project on the "Development of Multi-cultural Local Society". The seminar was held at Higashi-Hiroshima campus Student Plaza, on December 21st, 2015.

At the interim report presentation, project proposals and their progress were reported by the international students who have been engaged in the practical research to promote the multi-cultural local society in collaboration with the local schools and communities.

This was the second presentation after the project presentation on November 10th, 2015. The report presentation was chaired by Associate Professor Naomi Tsunematsu of International Center. A total of 36 international students from 34 universities of 19 countries including North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia, delivered their interim report presentations in English.

Professor and Vice Executive (International) Taiji Hotta, Lecturer Brett Walter of Graduate School of Education, and teachers from Hiroshima Prefectural Nisshokan High School gave some advice and comments on the presented project proposals.

International students divided into groups of 5-6 have been contacting organizations on campus and local schools and communities to practice a wide range of ideas: for example, hosting English classes to promote cross-cultural understanding at primary schools, having international exchanges through music, hosting seminars of cross-cultural understanding at the Hiroshima International Plaza, and giving cultural introductions of their countries at local community festival.

This practical research project is expected to strengthen the bond between international students, local schools, and local societies.
