Hiroshima University started providing vaccinations to students, faculty, and staff — in collaboration with Higashihiroshima City — last Monday, June 21, 2021.

Vaccination is available to students, faculty and staff enrolled at HU who wish to receive the vaccine and have made an appointment. Vaccines are administered at the West Gymnasium of the Higashihiroshima Campus. The first day of vaccinations at HU proceeded smoothly without any confusion. HU expects to vaccinate 2,500 people a day on weekends and 1,100 a day during weekdays (for the 1st shot).

Regarding the significance of vaccination at the university, Yuri Okamoto — Director of the Health Service Center — said, "As vaccination progresses, especially among students, the ratio of in-person classes will increase, and students may engage in extracurricular activities. Students will be able to participate in a wider range of activities in the future.”

Reservations for the first round of vaccinations — via the on-campus reservation form — closed on June 20. However, HU will continue to respond to requests for vaccinations from students, faculty, staff at the university. If you wish to receive the vaccination, please contact the General Affairs Group via email (soumu@office.hiroshima-u.ac.jp) until noon on Friday, July 2, for those at the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus and until noon on Tuesday, July 6, for those at the Kasumi Campus.
