Hiroshima University Study Abroad Program (HUSA 2015-2016) held the Final Seminar on “the Development of Multicultural Local Society” Practical Group Research.

On July 12th international exchange students participating in the Hiroshima University Study Abroad Program (HUSA) made a final presentation of their Practical Research Group Project on the “Development of Multicultural Local Society.”

Forty students from 34 universities in nineteen countries of North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia reported the outcome of their group projects in English in the seminar chaired by the associate professor Naomi Tsunematsu of International Center. HUSA Program international exchange students have been working on the group projects in collaboration with the local schools and local organizations since last October. Seven groups reported the outcome of the one-year group project, such as introduction of diverse cultures, English education through music, cultural exchange via introduction of national celebrations, etc.

HUSA students received important advice from examiners from local industry and city council who were invited to the seminar, and also the valuable feedback from professors of Hiroshima University and graduate students from various perspectives. Feedback covered various issues, such as how international students can cooperate with people in local society and get assistance for projects, and how local organizations are structured and function, etc.

Achievement of the projects has become an asset in students’ study abroad experience. Students will fully utilize their study abroad experiences in Japan for one year and make great endeavors in the future.
