HU students win award at Japan Business Design Discovery & Presentation Competition 8

Two students of the Hiroshima University Entrepreneurship Club "1st Penguin Club" won the GoodShot Award at the "Japan Business Design Discovery & Presentation Competition 8."

Kaisei Yonekura and Motoshi Furugen, 3rd and 4th-year students at the School of Science, bested other participants at the event held in Tokyo on March 17 and 18, 2022, by ICT Business Research Group.

Yonekura and Furugen's team, "First Penguin Club," presented "SAKUSAPO - A Partner for Those Who Want to Succeed," an application for people who want to succeed in business contests and other events. The application helps users make steady progress toward success by using "objective numerical evaluation" and "uniquely developed formulas."

The application, developed by Yonekura, won the grand prize (Director-General's Prize of the Chugoku Bureau of Telecommunications) in the student division of the "25th HiBiS Internet Business Forum 2021" held in Hiroshima in November last year. With the help of Furugen, they further improved the functionality of the system and went on to compete in this year's national competition.

Nineteen teams selected from each region competed in the campus division of the competition. The judges reviewed the case studies of ICT applications in business situations that were brushed up after the regional competition.

The judges expressed great expectation for the service commenting, "The results can change depending on the timing and the judges, so to make a system and process that amazes and makes many people sympathize is wonderful. I myself had an experience in which, after losing an award in a contest, I was supported by a person I met at that contest, which led me to the next step, so I also have high expectations for this service in that respect."

"At the time of the regional competition, I was working alone, but after entering the national competition, I formed a good team with Mr. Furugen, a member of the club, which led to this award," said Yonekura.

"We will soon release SAKUSAPO, so please download it if you are at all interested in business, if you want to utilize it for resume writing and job hunting, or if you want to be the center of an in-house venture. Join us and succeed with us."
