Hiroshima University (HU) hosted its annual Open Campus event on August 17 and 18 across its Higashi-Hiroshima, Kasumi, and Higashi-Senda campuses. Continuing from the previous year, the event was conducted with an on-site format.

All 12 schools within HU prepared a variety of programs, allowing both students and faculty to showcase the university's unique appeal.

During the President's keynote lecture at the Satake Memorial Hall, President Mitsuo Ochi introduced the university’s history and latest research. In his address, he also shared a teaching from the Analects of Confucius: “They who know the truth are not equal to those who love it, and they who love it are not equal to those who delight in it.” “In other words, nothing can surpass those who find enjoyment in everything,” said President Ochi.

He continued, “I know it's tough, but I hope you can enjoy taking the exams as well. Life may seem long, but it's surprisingly short. Within that time, I hope you can find joy in each day. For those who believe Hiroshima University is a good fit and for those with motivation, I strongly encourage you to study at this university.”

Once again this year, we adopted a system allowing students to register in advance, and we were able to witness high school students and prospective exam takers walking around the campus with smiles on their faces.

Under the fine weather, approximately 6,500 people came to visit.
