Hiroshima University (HU) signed a forest development partnership agreement with the Kamo Regional Forestry Association on March 28, in the presence of officials from Higashihiroshima City.

Through this agreement, HU will collaborate with the Kamo Regional Forestry Association to advance forest maintenance and conservation activities on the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus, in line with the university's “Carbon Neutral × Smart Campus 5.0 Declaration.”

The signing ceremony took place at the Higashihiroshima City Hall and was attended by HU President Mitsuo Ochi, Higashihiroshima Mayor Hironori Takagaki, and Hiromi Kawaguchi, Representative Director and Chairman of the Kamo Regional Forestry Association.

President Ochi expressed HU’s commitment to leveraging this agreement to advance the university’s efforts toward achieving carbon neutrality. He also stated his intention to disseminate the university's initiatives as a model case to the surrounding areas, contributing to regional development.
