On November 5, 2024, Seto Inland Sea Carbon-neutral Research Center held the 1st International Symposium at the reception hall of the Hiroshima University faculty club. Approximately 40 people attended the symposium, where six researchers from Japan and abroad gave lectures to promote carbon-neutral research.

The first part began with an opening remark by Okamura, Deputy Director of S-CNC, followed by a keynote speech by Prof. Toshinobu Machida (National Institute for Environmental Studies), Prof. Wei Yang (Chiba University), and Prof. Takayuki Ichikawa (Hiroshima University).

The second part consisted of a keynote speech by Prof. Tony Haymet (Chair of the Antarctic Science Foundation), Prof. Alecia Bellgrove (Deakin University), and  Prof. Yasuto Shirato (National Agriculture and Food Research Organization). The meeting concluded with a closing remark by Miyazaki, Director of S-CNC.

The poster presentation was held during the coffee break, and lively discussions took place.
The symposium ended on a high note.
