Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR)

In order to strengthen their cooperative relationship with respect to the implementation of the activities of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Hiroshima University and UNITAR entered into a comprehensive cooperation agreement on Monday, October 23, 2006.

The signing ceremony took place at the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus of Hiroshima University, where Ms. Nasrin Azimi, Director of UNITAR's Hiroshima Office for Asia and the Pacific, and Mr. Taizo Muta, President of Hiroshima University, signed the agreement.The comprehensive cooperation agreement entered into between UNITAR and Hiroshima University aims to stimulate education and research activities at Hiroshima University by utilizing the know-how and human resources of the University in the development assistance activities carried out by UNITAR in developing countries.In the future, based on this agreement, the University will further deepen cooperation and work on making an international contribution with respect to the promotion of international cooperation, as well as the development of human resources, and education and research activities.

* UNITAR provides training to government officials, academics, and representatives of the civil society of developing countries.Its headquarters is located in Geneva, Switzerland, and the Hiroshima Office for Asia and the Pacific, which was established in 2003, has now become the Hiroshima Office of UNITAR.
