The Regional Support Dental Clinic Division was established for the purpose of providing logistic assistance to dentists in private practice who carry out home dental practice. If there are patients who need treatment beyond what home dental practice can offer, they should be referred to us.
With the increasing need for community-based care recently, we have had more occasions to treat patients who have difficulty eating and swallowing. In view of promoting rehabilitation of the eating function, the range of patients deemed as suitable candidates for eating function therapy has been expanded, and also the medical treatment fee has been revised so that eating function therapy can be indicated in patients who have decreased swallowing function, which can be observed objectively by videoendoscopic evaluation or videofluorography, regardless of the cause, and which is expected to improve by therapy. Both videoendoscopic evaluation of swallowing and videofluorography can be performed at our division.
