Division of Transfusion Medicine

The Division of Transfusion Medicine currently comprises four doctors, one nurse and nine laboratory technicians. To perform safe and proper transfusion at a hospital, we supervise the management of blood products including albumin, deal with transfusion reactions that have occurred, and report them to the Blood Center as necessary, treat and store allogeneic hematopoietic stem cells, carry out tests related to transfusion, HLA typing tests and pre-deposit autologous blood collection, and maintain and improve transfusion therapy manuals. In the case that a transfusion reaction occurs repeatedly in a patient, we also prepare washed red cells or washed platelets at the request of each medical department.
