How to Apply for a Certificate of Eligibility

Application procedure flowchart:

(1) Student Support Office
Sends the following documents to the applicant

(2) Applicant
Fills out the CoE Web Application and uploads the required documents, such as a photo, passport copy etc.
(3) Global Initiatives Group
Receives the applicant's application.
The application details will be sent to the School/Graduate School/Center for approval.
(4) Student Support Office
Checks the applicant's information and notifies the Global Initiatives Group regarding approval (or rejection).
(5) Global Initiatives Group
Receives the approval (or rejection) from the School/Graduate School/Center.
Checks all the necessary documents, and when the preparation for application is ready, notifies you by e-mail.
(6) Global Initiatives Group
Applies for the Certificate of Eligibility from the Immigration Bureau.
(7) Immigration Bureau
Examines the application and issues the Certificate of Eligibility.
(8) Global Initiatives Group
Sends the electronic Certificate of Eligibility to the applicant by email.
(9) Applicant
Applies for a "Student" visa at the nearest Japanese Embassy or Consulate.

【Note】
If your request to enroll in Hiroshima University is rejected after you obtained the Certificate of Eligibility, you are required to report about it to the Global Initiatives Group, Hiroshima University.
