To Students Facing Difficulties with Their Studies Due to the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake

To Students Whose Studies Have Been Affected by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake

                                      SHIMADA Masayuki,
                                    Executive Vice President
                                  (Education and Peacebuilding)

We would like to express our heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake.

As a result of the earthquake, some students may face difficulties returning to Hiroshima due to the suspension of transportation services, while others may need to return home because their family members or others close to you have been affected by the disaster. These circumstances may prevent students from taking final examinations or otherwise interfere with their studies. If you believe that these circumstances may affect your academic progress, please contact your course instructor or the student support office of your faculty, graduate school, or department.

We have requested instructors to provide special consideration for students affected by the earthquake. Such accommodations may include make-up examinations, alternative assignments or reports, supplementary classes, or on-demand access to recorded lectures.

Please be assured that the University will make every effort to ensure that students facing difficulties in continuing their studies due to this natural disaster will not be placed at a disadvantage academically. We encourage you to prioritize your safety and well-being and to take all necessary measures to protect yourself and your family.
