日頃から，広島大学外国語教育研究センターの業務，運営にご支援，ご協力賜りありがとうございます。既に各種報道等で周知されておりますとおり，2019年12月以降，中国の武漢市において，新型コロナウイルス感染症の患者が報告され，日本を含む世界諸国でも患者数が増加しています。
　昨今の状況を鑑み，本センターが2020年3月6日（金）に開催を予定しておりました「2019年度 外国語教育研究センター教育実践研究報告会」および「第29回広島大学外国語教育研究センター 外国語教育研究集会」を【中止】することといたしました。ご参加を予定されていた方々には，大変申し訳ございませんがご了承のほどお願い申し上げます。

　As reported in the news, the number of cases of coronavirus from Wuhan has been increasing since December 2019, and the number of cases in other countries including Japan is also increasing.
　Due to this situation, we have decided to cancel the two events scheduled for March 6th: Practice Report Meeting for 2019 and the 29th Foreign Language Education Research Meeting. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this may cause you.

第29回広島大学外国語教育研究センター外国語教育研究集会において、以下のとおりシンポジウムを開催します。

日時： 2020年3月6日(金) 13:30-17:15
場所： 広島大学総合科学部 J棟3階 J307号教室

　English education at the tertiary level does not end with students completing general English language courses in their first or second year. In the later years of their university studies, students are expected to continue to learn English in accordance with their future academic or occupational needs. Teachers tasked with supporting such students will require an understanding of the theory and practice of English language teaching that meets the needs of learners in a variety of specialized fields.

　This symposium invites experts who will help us understand English for Specific Purposes (ESP) from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Yukie Koyama (Professor Emeritus, Nagoya Institute of Technology) will provide a lecture on needs analysis in ESP, and Ken Urano (Professor, Hokkai-Gakuen University) will then speak on the issues of teaching business English in terms of task-based language teaching. The final talk, given by Walter Davies and Simon Fraser from our institute, will be on English language teaching in the medical field. The symposium will conclude with a question and answer session and a general discussion on the role of ESP in higher education. All the talks will be in English.

  大学における英語学習は、主に1年次・2年次に行われる教養教育で完結するわけではありません。高年次になるに伴い、それぞれの将来の展望や専門分野での必要性に合わせ、学生自身が継続的に英語学習に取り組むことが期待されます。そのような学生たちを指導する立場にある我々教員には、様々な分野の必要性に応じた英語教育への対応にも関心を持ち続けることが求められるでしょう。

  そこで本シンポジウムでは、理論と実践、両方の観点から、特定目的のための英語教育(English for Specific Purposes, ESP)についてお話しくださる先生方2名をお招きいたしました。小山由紀江先生(名古屋工業大学 名誉教授)にはESPのためのニーズ分析、浦野研先生(北海学園大学 教授)にはタスク・ベースのビジネス英語指導についてご講演いただきます。さらに本センターからWalter Davies准教授とSimon Fraser教授に医療分野の英語教育についてお話いただきます。最後に、高等教育におけるESPのあり方について質疑応答と全体討論の機会を持ちたいと思います。
